Golden Ratio Frequencies are ecstatic to announce the first single from Catalonian based artist and dancer Victoria Macarte with EVERGREEN.

Based in a small coastal fishing village once home to surrealist titan Salvador Dali, dancer and artist Victoria Macarte weaves a wondrous world of enchantment, magic and imagination, through sound, movement and visual art inspired and mirrored by her natural yet otherworldly geographical surroundings, extra-sensorial perception and the joys of motherhood.

Sporadically performing her own brand of power dream-folk on coastal clifftops, abandoned barns and stone circles, Victoria Macarte gifts her recorded material to us here at Golden Ratio Frequencies in the form of a bite sized digital single and we are more than honoured to receive.

EVERGREEN is a playful and ecstatic slice of hypnagogic pop in reverie of spring, rejuvenation and the cyclical nature of re-creation, recalling the art-pop of Kate Bush and Caroline Polacheck and the dubbed-out balearic bounce of Yong Yong or Peaking Lights.

“Evergreen is a Spiritual dream-hop pop song I made as an ode to our garden” says Macarte.

“I was incredibly lucky to spend the pandemic “stuck” in paradise; a tiny cottage in the middle of a huge olive grove on the easternmost edge of the Iberian peninsula. In the middle of nowhere spring bloomed and time stood still. The song is not just an ode to the garden, which became a physical, mental and spiritual space for freedom, but a metaphor for circular time and eternal, undying love.”


Sprinkled with bubbling synth arpeggiators, dubby drum machines, field recordings, and Macarte's serene voice, Evergreen conjures an inner return to a child-like whimsical euphoria of blissful innocence, bringing light to a world in great need of illumination.

Accompanying this sonic enchanter is an ethereal music video by director and collaborator Laura Martinova, perfectly capturing the hallucinogenic intoxication of a green world in spring and summer time bloom…
