As the days draw shorter, the nights grow long, and the curtains close on what has been an eventful year, we at Golden Ratio Frequencies are pleased to announce our final release of 2020, MOBIUS - SLOOM
Using two voices entwined through a loop, Möbius drift through half-conscious melancholy, using an organic palette of song and sound.
Energies of both the masculine and feminine intertwine in a dance of melody and drone, that entrances and transports one to a world both within and beyond our own, an introspective whirlpool of sound, looping and cycling like an ever growing galaxy in a universe of sonic vibration.
Möbius are James Watts (Lovely Wife, Lump Hammer, Plague Rider) and Skylar Gill (Penance Stare). Hailing from the North East of England and based around the use of layered and looped voice in an improvised setting to build rich soundscapes, Gill's melodic sensibility floats above the low tones and guttural textures of Watts's delivery – the largely unadorned voices, bar the use of the loop, yield something meditative and primal in nature.
SLOOM, their debut album for Golden Ratio Frequencies, contains two enticing pieces of vocal alchemy, embracing us as an aural blanket as we journey inward through the dark midwinter nights. Safely ensconced in hibernal slumber, SLOOM recharges our energies, revives inner strength, and restores our spirit, in preparation for the brighter days to come.
The album will see it's full release coincide with the 2020 Winter Solstice, 21st December and physicals will ship there after.
Physical copies will be available on limited edition professionally dubbed c40 cassette, with on-body print, double-sided, full colour, two-page inlay and screen-printed Golden Ratio spiral acetate.

Prior to the release of The Mirror, Gnod had generally been a long-form, krautrock-influenced psychedelic collective, putting out tribal rhythm, pagan rituals on LP. That's why the first 30 seconds of The Mirror are so shocking: This is repetitive, heavily political, metallic post-punk. It sounds less like Amon Duul and more like Metal Box-era PiL or Cop-era Swans, with angry sloganeering about the rise of fascism shouted above the din. Levrikon
