As the days grow shorter, the leaves turn golden and an air of autumnal magic and mystery envelopes the nights, Golden Ratio Frequencies are elated to welcome our latest addition to the family, NEVER TEMPLE.

An enigmatic duo that traverses the multiverse of time and space, Jaclyn Blumas (Doomsquad) and Alexandra Duvekot (Blue Crime) have been living in and presenting the world of the NEVER TEMPLE since 2018.

We at Golden Ratio Frequencies first encountered their hallucinatory dream world during the 2019 edition of 24hr Drone festival at Basilica Hudson New York, where we were bewitched by their entrancing midnight ritual of haunting synths, ethereal cello, otherworldly voices and fantastical costumes and have been left hypnotised under their spell ever since.
Indeed, to work with them on a release has been fulfilling a dream (or premonition!) for us here at GRFRQ!

THROWING AROUND AN INVISIBLE BALL, our 21st release for the label, presents their performance for DRONECAST, the 2020 online pandemic edition of Basilica Hudson’s 24hr Drone festival, into the physical realm. Recorded and broadcast in a cross continent livestream from Toronto via Amsterdam - and featuring special guests Derek McKeon (Zones) and Lucy Kruger joining the duo, the near hour long head trip transports the listener through aural portals into twilight zones of effervescent new age synth pads, esoteric trance drones and mystikal mantra like meditations creating a captivating land of enchantment; a mirage of the imagination normally only accessed through deep R.E.M dream states, recalled only in a dissipating haze of memory in our waking days.

This tool for meditation, journeying and deep listening is manifested into the material realm via a special ltd edition crystalline amethyst purple cassette with orange on body print, housed in utopian and psychotomimetic artwork from visionary artist Derek McKeon and a special orange screen printed Golden Ratio spiral Acetate.

The Never Temple is energetic and is not confined to borders and restrictions.

REALLY wish I'd subscribed sooner to be able to enjoy this on vinyl! Curious the artist cited 12 Monkeys and not La Jetee as one of the key inspirations. For me, this has a more somber, introspective and timeless feel more akin to La Jetee than 12 Monkeys (though I also am a big fan of Terry Gilliam). Gorgeous music and you get the bonus of a list of excellent movies to enjoy (another note to the artist: Time Crimes is also a good film to watch). Now to somehow procure a vinyl copy...
